Hello, friends! In case you haven’t noticed by the sporadic and random efforts on my blog recently, I have been busy! Summer is always a busy time for me with numerous birthdays (sometimes it feels like everyone was born during the warmer months!) as well as work, which picks up in the summer, and all the other celebrations, trips and activities that happen from May to August. So, instead of a Sunday Review, today I decided to play a little catch-up!
You may remember that last Saturday, my mom and I participated in a local Color Run 5k event put on by The Charity Bomb – we had a blast! It was my mom’s first time doing a 5k ever and my first time doing a color run so neither one of us was entirely sure what was going to happen. Luckily, it didn’t matter at all; we showed up in our customized white shirts ready to get blasted with color and that is exactly what happened!
(PS. Sorry the pictures are a little blurry, I had my phone in a plastic baggy so it wouldn’t get color-damaged haha!)
This particular event was held at Irvine Lake where the organizers set up a short 5 kilometer (or 3.1 mile) course with color “stations” set up every so often where volunteers would throw handfuls of the colored corn starch at participants. More often than not, however, runners and walkers would join in, dousing each other with bright neon bursts of color as well.
There were also two DJ booths set up playing music and everyone there was having such a great time that it made for a really fun event! It was also, however, super hot that day and so by the time we walked back and forth from the parking lot and walked the 5k, we were pretty wiped out, not to mention sweaty and covered in neon corn starch. It was still so worth it; here are our “before-and-after” shots! ;)
The race last Saturday was super fun, but yesterday was even more fun as it was my grandmother’s 89th birthday! We had a big family party in her backyard with cakes (yes, multiple cakes) and all kinds of amazing food. I made my grandma a custom bracelet for her birthday gift and I think she really liked it; sadly, I forgot to take a picture, bummer. I did manage, however, to get some decent “action” shots of Grandma blowing out her birthday candles!
Well, that is all the catching up I have for you for now. Today, I plan on getting some work done and posting the latest bracelets I made up for sale in my Etsy shop. I took some super professional looking pictures and I’m really pleased with how they came out so I’ll have to share those later in the week after I list them up for sale. But here’s a quick sneak peek, anyway!
As always, thanks for reading :)
