Green Polka Dots

July 8, 2013

Hello, friends!  Is it Monday yet??  I don’t know about you, but having a holiday on Thursday has seriously confused me for some reason!  Maybe it was the multiple birthdays and celebrations so close together, but I keep forgetting which day of the week it is.  Oh well, either way today’s outfit is from my Grandma’s birthday on Saturday.  I wore one of my favorite dresses to the party – a flattering summer dress with a green and white abstract polka dot print that I got on super sale at Gap!

I am wearing a green polka dot print dress (Gap) with a vintage black woven and tan leather belt (Salvation Army).  I paired this outfit with my pastel lilac Converse tennis shoes (Ross) and accessorized with a navy blue braided suede bracelet (handmade), green stud earrings (Forever 21) and an emerald heart pendant necklace (which was a gift from my Grandma when I was a little girl).

I seriously love this dress – it is my new favorite!  It is so comfortable, lightweight and easy to wear; plus, the shape is universally flattering.  Even better, you can easily wear it dressed up or dressed down, with a few accessories or none at all.  I wore it to my own family birthday party in May and styled it much more simply (here).

On Saturday I decided to have a little more fun with the dress, pairing it with a vintage belt and some Converse “Chucks.”  I also added some fun, nostalgic touches like the necklace my Grandma gave me when I was little (emerald for my birth stone!) and even some hair clips that I “borrowed” from my sister years ago.

Speaking of hair, my hair is seriously getting so long, you guys!!!  I know this is probably still considered short hair for most people, but this is like ridiculously long for me and I am starting to get a major itch to chop it all off again!  What should I do?!  I keep seeing cute pixie hair cuts on Pinterest and thinking maybe I should go back to my pixie cut, but I’ve spent so long growing it out and everyone seems to like it long…  Sigh, I don’t know what to do, but if I’m being honest, all this hair might just be too much for me.  I haven’t made an appointment at the salon yet, but I’m getting close.

Well, hair indecision aside, I have been pretty productive lately!  I finally had time to put those pretty, pretty bracelets I made up for sale in my Etsy shop yesterday.  While I was at it, I altered a skirt I have been meaning to fix forever so now it is a super cute high waist skirt (I’m sure you’ll be seeing it soon) as well as making a new nightgown for these hot summer nights.  I might just have to snap some photos of the nightgown and do a quick post on it; I’m actually very happy with how it came out.  Anyway, I’ve got more sewing on the agenda today as well as a trip to the post office (another Etsy order on its way!), so I better get going.

Have a fabulous Monday and, as always, thanks for reading :)  x, Kristi

Thank you so much! I love mixing casual, “sporty” items with dressier items like skirts or dresses. :)
