Hello, friends! I hope all you stateside peeps had a great Labor Day yesterday. I had a lovely relaxing day staying in bed late, going for a nice long jog, spending some time in the pool and working on a little embroidery for a small sewing project. Don’t you just love having an extra day to do whatever you feel like doing, especially when there is nothing you have to get done??
Today’s outfit is actually one I wore last week before the terrible heat wave set in and it became unbearably humid. Transitioning to fall is never easy in Southern California because temps stay pretty high well into October and November and it seems like this year is not going to be any different. I have been trying my hardest to come up with outfits that accommodate the late summer weather and I think this one fits the bill pretty well.
I am wearing a pink- and red-hued plaid button front shirt with the sleeves rolled up (Target) which I front-tucked into a pair of denim shorts (thrifted) and belted at the waist with a tan leather belt (American Eagle, old). I paired this outfit with my Minnetonka moccasins (Marshall’s) and accessorized with a pair of gold and neon pink stud earrings (American Eagle) and a faux brass bracelet (handmade).
While this outfit probably wouldn’t cut it for a day of running around in this heat, it’s the perfect pre-fall ensemble to wear to work. I have a feeling I am going to have to get pretty creative in the coming weeks if I want to incorporate more fall pieces into my wardrobe, especially with the late summer heat we’ve been experiencing around here. What’s your favorite way to beat the heat and still look cool??
As always, thanks for reading :), Kristi
