Hello, friends, how was your weekend? I have been so busy lately that it was actually kind of nice to slow down for a bit on Sunday afternoon and spend time with my family. I also got my new tripod in the mail, which I am so excited about, so I took the opportunity to test it out and snap some outfit photos in the morning. I am in love! It will definitely take a little more practice, but I cannot wait to find time for a full-on photo shoot, hopefully somewhere outside of the backyard!
I am wearing a red paisley / bohemian print dress with long sleeves and a dip hem (H&M) with cobalt blue bow sandals (Abercrombie & Fitch via Marshall’s). I accessorized with bright blue stud earrings (H&M), a long gold chain necklace (Forever 21) and a simple gold bangle bracelet (?).
This dress was absolutely perfect for a warm summer afternoon. The fabric is super lightweight and flowy and the cut of the dress is just so flattering – I got a ton of compliments! The unusual thing for me is the color; I hardly ever wear red, especially a red as vibrant as this, but something about it just caught my eye in the store and I couldn’t pass it up. This dress is also a great transitional piece to wear into fall; so, if it looks familiar, it’s because you’ve seen it on me before, just styled a little differently (see it here).
**Ooh, ooh, quick nerd moment! I just wanted to point out how much I love the fact that my blue accessories (sandals and earrings) actually match and pick up the tiny blue thread wrapped around the string/tie belt of the dress! I can’t help it, I love the details :)
I wore this outfit on Sunday to my great aunt’s birthday party. My mom and I drove up to Los Angeles to pick up my grandmother and then drove her to West Covina where her sister and family were celebrating her 85th birthday. The best part of the afternoon was my Aunt Bunny’s group of girlfriends ranging in ages from 82 to 94. If you’re thinking these were a few “old biddies,” think again. These ladies were fun, feisty and hilarious! But of course they would be just like my great aunt and my grandmother – two strong Caponi women, two matriarchs no doubt from a long line of strong women.
I hope you all had a great weekend and remember to take time this week to refresh and reconnect with the people you love. Thanks for reading, stay feisty! ;)
