Hello, friends! It has been a while since I have done a proper nails-of-the-day post, but I got a new polish recently and I just could not wait any longer to try it out. The new polish is this great deep plum color from the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure line (which I love!) and I had this great idea of doing a sort of ombre/monochromatic effect with my dark burgundy/oxblood NYC polish. I thought, “How cool will it look if my nails are all the pretty plum/wine color, except for an accent nail in the deeper shade of red?!” Well… this is how it turned out…
The colors were just not different enough and it looked like a poorly done manicure. I was so tempted to just take it all off and start over with some other idea, but I decided instead to salvage the manicure with some glitter (I tell you, glitter can fix or cover up almost any nail mistake!). So, I turned my “nail fail” into fall-inspired wine and burgundy with gold glitter accent nail. (Because burgundy and wine are different colors!)
The polishes: main color – “Ruby Do” by Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure (#490); accent nail – “Manhattan” by N.Y.C. New York Color (#248B) and a gold glitter polish by “love & beauty” Forever 21.
While the manicure may not have turned out how I expected, I still love my new plum/wine polish and I am sure it is going to be in heavy rotation this season. I especially love the fact that the Complete Salon Manicure polishes have base and top coats included in the color so I can literally paint my nails or toes in one step. It makes it super easy to slap on some color before heading out the door!
All in all, it didn’t turn out too bad and glitter has quickly become my new favorite fix-all cure for any manicure woes. It’s perfect for covering up mismatched colors, smudges, nicks and whatever else my poor nails have to suffer. What nail polish colors are you planning on sporting this season?? As always, thanks for reading :)
