Hello, friends! I am back from my camping trip in the desert and I have to tell you, I had a blast! It was the perfect long weekend away – away from work, the stresses of daily life and, most importantly, the chance to be “off the grid” with no internet or even cell reception. The Boyfriend and I got started early Friday morning, hit the dirt by 10 am and started setting up camp. Over the next three days, we built a new outhouse (yep, you read that correctly), went on an early morning hike on Saturday, rode ATV’s, did some shooting (with guns and cameras), cooked our meals over an open fire and just relaxed. Here is the photographic evidence! ;)
Checking out the view of the curvy hula girl I bought Derek in Hawaii and our road out to camp.
I told you I helped build a new toilet for our outhouse! ;)
Derek… sawing… duh.
What?! Someone has to make sure this thing doesn’t fall apart!
While digging the hole for the outhouse, we discovered a tarantula!
Shooting Derek’s .22 rifle
See that cluster around the tiny red dot in the center?? That was all me, baby! ;)
The moon rising on our first night in the desert was beautiful! Pictures just don’t do it justice…
The sun setting on the opposite horizon – equally gorgeous!
Getting ready to set out on our hike the next morning.
Taking a quick breather and snapping a photo of my (awesome) Dr. Marten’s.
We made it!
Feeling like champs! ;)
See that black speck at the end of the dirt road on the upper left of the photo?? That’s our camp – we hiked all that way!
We found this really cool Geological Survey marker on the top of the hill.
Derek shooting some video while I snap some pics.
Well, now that I am back in town and back to my usual routine, things will be getting back to normal. I hope you all had an awesome weekend and a great week ahead! As always, thanks for reading :), Kristi
