Hello, friends, Happy Hump Day! As most of you know by now, I am a huge animal lover and one of my side jobs is working for Pet World Insider (pet/animal media). Well, remember how I mentioned that I was working late this past Sunday night…? It was for a good cause, a really good cause, because I was filming at the Stand Up for Pits comedy night in Los Angeles – a night dedicated to fun, laughter and animal advocacy, specifically for pit bull terriers.
The event was put on by actress and comedienne Rebecca Corry (who was HILARIOUS!) and hosted by actress Kaley Cuoco (of Big Band Theory). Other performers included comedians Whitney Cummings and Bill Burr as well as a musical performance by Watkins Family Hour (awesome band!).
The red carpet was also graced by celebrities such as MMA fighter Gordon Shell, Moby, Moon Zappa, Cheri Oteri and many more, who were all there to support pit bulls and putting an end to breed specific legislation.
In case you are unaware of the plight faced by pit bull terriers, just imagine most people’s reactions when they hear about or see a pit bull – terror. Maybe you are even in this group, but don’t be fooled by misinformation; pit bulls are the same loving and sweet friends as any other dog, but they are being abused and mistreated across the United States. They are being neglected, beaten, abused and used as bait dogs or in dog fighting rings and this has got to stop. If you want to learn more, please visit the Stand Up for Pits website to learn more about Rebecca Corry and her cause.
Okay, Public Service Announcement over, I promise. The event itself was so much fun – the comedians were hilarious and the band rocked it – and I had a blast hanging out on the red carpet! It was my first time filming a red carpet and while it was a little hectic at times, for the most part everyone was really friendly and cool. It was really awesome to see so many people out to have fun and support a good cause – I even got to write a small article about the event (read it here!)!
Have a fabulous week and, as always, thanks for reading :), Kristi
