E. T. and Distressed Denim

January 6, 2014

Hello, friends, Happy Monday!  The weekend is over, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy ourselves and carry a little piece of the weekend spirit with us, does it?  I did a bit of shopping this week.  After cleaning out my drawers and closet, I decided that some new denim was in order, especially since all of American Eagle’s jeans are under $30 and they are my personal favorite.

I am sure every lady out there knows the importance of denim that simply fits well.  I don’t care what the wash is or the width of the leg – dark, light, skinny or bootcut, jeans have got to fit well.  For me, American Eagle almost always fits the bill, and my booty.  My favorite is their skinny fit, but for a more flared leg to wear with tennis shoes, I do like the “artist” fit.  I got this pair of premium skinny jeans along with another pair for under $60 thanks to my $10 off coupon.  Sometimes, it pays to be a rewards member, especially at stores where you shop frequently.

As for E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, the movie was on T.V. last night and my mom, boyfriend and I couldn’t help watching it, if even for old time’s sake.  It was fun to hear my mom tell us stories of seeing the movie for the first time in theaters and what a phenomenon it was, and then running out and buying everything E.T.-themed for my older brothers.  I had so much fun enjoying the nostalgia of it all, I couldn’t help busting out my E.T. t-shirt to wear with my new denim.

The details: E.T. dolman sleeve shirt (Old Navy) // distressed button-front skinny jeans (American Eagle, here) // leopard print smoking flats (Payless) // gold skinny belt (?) // gold skull earrings (ModCloth) // gold moustache bracelet (ModCloth) // gold belt bangle bracelet (ModCloth) // mint sunglasses (Tilly’s)

I am not usually one to go for distressed jeans because, well, why buy brand new jeans with holes in them?  But I just couldn’t help myself with this pair.  The fit is incredible, the denim is one of American Eagle’s higher quality and the distressing is just kinda fun.  Plus, I know the jeans will continue to “age” as I wear them, which I think will add so much character.  Ooh and they have a button fly, which I haven’t worn in years!  ;)

Are you ready to get back to work now that the holidays are over?  As always, thanks for reading :), Kristi

The distressed jeans kinda look like they have a galaxy print on them which makes the ET t-shirt even more appropriate!
