Hello, friends, Happy Thursday and Happy (almost) Valentine’s Day! The theme for this week’s Thrift Style Thursday post is “something you love,” so, naturally, I put together a date night outfit for Valentine’s Day tomorrow with a few fashion items I absolutely adore!
I don’t know about you, but I love dressing up for special occasions, especially if there is any sort of theme that I can incorporate into my outfit. For Valentine’s Day, the color red and hearts were a no-brainer; but, I also wanted to add some pizzazz since I was going for a date night look. I added the polka dot tights to the knit sweater and eyelet lace dress to play up their different textures, and I added the heels and the clutch purse for some height and sparkle!
I love this new-to-me sweater that I picked up way back in November or December at one of my favorite local thrift stores. It is a lovely thick cable knit with contrasting knit sleeves, and I knew right away that the vibrant red color would be perfect for Valentine’s Day! I also love the eyelet lace fabric of this dress, which was given to me by a friend, and these polka dot pattern tights are another favorite of mine.
If I had to pick one favorite item from this outfit, however, it would probably be the heart locket necklace because it is the very first piece of jewelry that Derek ever gave me (9 years ago!!) and it is one of my favorite necklaces.
Outfit details: black eyelet lace dress (gift) // red knit sweater (thrifted) // black polka dot tights (Target) // black heeled booties (Target) // black faux snakeskin belt (“stolen” from Mom, i.e. borrowed and never returned, thanks, Mom!) // sequin clutch purse (c/o: 1dress.co.uk) // garnet hair clip (borrowed from sister years and years ago and never returned, thanks, Sarah!) // red heart stud earrings (vintage, gift) // silver heart locket necklace (gift)
I do not dress up often, so I had a ton of fun playing with my new clutch purse. I love that the structured shape is compact enough to fit easily in my hand, but still has room for all my essentials, e.g. phone, keys, tinted chapstick and cash/cards. Plus, the faux cocktail ring snap closure is super cute and a really fun feature, and the purse came with two different length removable straps!
Most of all on this Thrift Style Thursday, however, I love blogging and all of you for taking the time to read my blog, and I especially adore these amazing thrifty ladies who inspire me each week to do better and better! Let’s see what the other thrifting divas from Thrift Style Thursdays love:
