Hello, friends, Happy Thursday!! I have been lacking in posts around here lately because I’ve been in celebration mode. You may have heard that Tuesday was my birthday, and I spent the whole day with Derek doing everything I wanted (within reason, of course). We started with a yummy French breakfast at Mimi’s Cafe, followed by, what else, thrift shopping, then we headed down to the beach for a photo shoot and dinner at Ruby’s on the end of the Balboa pier where I got a burger and a birthday shake! It was a super fun, relaxed birthday, exactly what I wanted because I knew that yesterday I would be spending the whole day at my favorite place on Earth: Disneyland! I have had the best birthday and one of the best parts is that I have a million fun photos for today’s Thrift Style Thursday: Cute n’ Quirky!
I love today’s theme because it is so broad, it can be interpreted in a million different ways. I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to wear for today’s post, until I found this amazing Maison Scotch top at a local Crossroads Trading Co. store. It is absolutely gorgeous with the light chambray fabric, beautiful palm tree graphic and fun neon embroidered collar. Cute? Yup. Quirky? Definitely! I also kept my Me-Made-May pledge running with some custom upcycled shorts (you may remember seeing these shorts as a pair of jeans in another Thrift Style Thursday post).
I made poor Derek take a ton of photos at every possible location, but how could I not? It’s been sweltering here lately and the beach was just gorgeous! I also want to point out my fun cupcake earrings, which I have been wearing all week long to help keep the birthday celebrations going. Aren’t they just the cutest and quirkiest?! ;)
The details: top (Maison Scotch, thrifted) // white wash jean shorts (upcycled, thrifted) // blue bow sandals (Marshall’s) // white leather crossbody purse (thrifted) // neon orange sunnies (Walmart) // cupcake earrings (ModCloth) // blue & white wrap bracelets (gifted) // vintage faux opal ring (Etsy)
I had so much fun exploring all the little corners of Balboa, one of my favorite beach areas in Southern California. Derek and I used to head down there all the time, but it’s been years since our last visit, so we had fun stopping at our favorite spots, including Balboa Candy (with the yummiest salt water taffy direct from Salt Lake City, UT). There were so many unique little corners for photos, too, so I will definitely have to head back down there soon for more photo shoots!
Well, I think that pretty much sums up my birthday at Balboa and my cute n’ quirky outfit, but don’t forget to check out the other Thrift Style Thursday girls to see what they came up with for today’s theme, and remember to vote for June’s themes over at Sheri’s “Gone Thrifting” page!
