Invite List

June 3, 2014

Hey, friends, how’s it going?  I have been super busy lately as the month of May – forever a busy time for me – finally wrapped up.  It is looking like June is going to be at least slightly less busy, which I am definitely looking forward to – I need some down time!  Mostly, I have been working, working, but I’ve definitely taken the time to squeeze in some fun, too.

Today, I want to share a quick project I worked on over this past weekend.  My grandmother is turning 90 next month so we are throwing her a big party with all the family.  Since my grandma really wanted to make an occasion out of it – and why not?! – my mom asked me to design some fun invitations to send out.  Her actual birthday is July 6, but we’re having the party on July 5 and my grandma asked for a red, white & blue theme so we could add the 4th of July to the mix as well.  Anyway, here are the invitations I designed:

I took some inspiration from a quick search of 4th of July invitations on Etsy and went from there, incorporating the party’s colors, fireworks and personalizing it with an old photo of my grandmother and her sister.  Of course, for this internet version I changed all of the contact information, just in case.  For the envelopes, I used a cute stamp with a trio of stars on it that my mom found along with some blue and red ink, stamping both the front and back of the envelope.  Then, I wrote the addresses in blue ink and our return address in red ink.

I absolutely love how the whole invitation turned out, especially the photo of my grandma and my great aunt.  I think it not only makes the invitation personal and reminds everyone who we’re celebrating, but being an older photograph, it’s a reminder that we’re celebrating 90 full years of life, love, laughter and experience.  My grandmother, Adeline, is the matriarch of our family, a woman of strong opinions and even fiercer love for her family.  I am constantly inspired by her enthusiasm to continue learning and her never-ending energy and ability to face life and tackle any obstacle as it comes, every single day.  And I can’t wait to celebrate her birthday!

Was May a crazy month for you, too?  Do you have any exciting plans coming up that you’re looking forward to??

As always, thanks for reading!  – Kristi :)
