Hello, friends! Just a quick update from my weekend to start off the week, because I am going to pretend that it is not Monday yet and is, in fact, still Sunday (can I please??).
I spent Saturday with my mom visiting my grandmother. We took her out to lunch and shopping at Ross (our two favorite past times, eating and shopping) and then I asked her for a bunch of old photos for her 90th birthday party coming up in a couple weeks. I plan on putting together a fun collage of pictures from her life as well as a little surprise birthday present for her – yippee! It was really cool to get to go through old photos of my grandmother and her parents and my mom as a little girl. I love old photographs and it’s just crazy to think about all of the generations that have come before me because obviously I wouldn’t be here if weren’t for them. Anyway, don’t worry, as I plan on sharing more about my grandmother’s party later so I am sure you will get to see the fun surprise I have planned! :)
On Sunday, I headed down to Sunset Beach with my mom and Derek for stand up paddleboard lessons, and it was SO FUN! I have never been, but I really, really wanted to try it, so when I saw a really great Groupon deal, I bought it and convinced my mom to come, too. The Groupon deal was for a 90 minute lesson for two people, and even though my mom was afraid she’d fall in the water because she has pretty terrible balance, she had a blast! Derek brought his kayak along and rode around the harbor with us, and of course he was obliging enough to take some photos for us, too. Thanks, Derek!
The photos were just a teensy bit blurry because I put my camera in a plastic baggy so it wouldn’t get wet, but I think they still came out alright. It was a ton of fun and surprisingly easy. It was quite a workout, and I have a feeling I will be very sore this week, but already I can’t wait to try it again!!
After we got back from our stand up paddlebaording lesson, I headed over to Derek’s house to watch the U.S. vs Portugal World Cup game. It was a great game, but such a disappointment right at the very end! We played so well against Portugal right up until those last 30 seconds of overtime. Still, we didn’t lose, so that’s something, but I am so nervous for the game against Germany. I have to admit, I am definitely one of those fans who only watches soccer (aka futbol) during the World Cup, but I don’t care, it is so worth it! Have you been watching any of the world cup games?? Who are you rooting for?
Well, I hope you all had a lovely weekend as well, and, as always, thanks for reading! – Kristi :)
