Hello, friends! That’s right, the day of the party finally arrived and it was a hit!!! I am relieved, exhausted, and excited to share a little bit of the fun times we had celebrating my grandmother, Adeline, and her 90th birthday.
In case you are new around here, I have been helping my mom prep and plan for my grandma’s big 90th birthday for the past couple months, starting with the invitations (above – which I designed myself). The theme of the party was vintage red, white and blue to reflect the era during which my grandmother grew up. We decorated my grandmother’s backyard with tinsel, bows, flowers and as much red, white and blue as we could get our hands on!
It was such a fun day, spent with family and friends. My grandmother had a blast and I think everyone truly enjoyed themselves. Oh, and just in case you were wondering, here are a couple more shots of my outfit (this is a life and style blog after all…)! ;)I am wearing a white, lace-detail dress (H&M) with coral sandals (Target).
I am rather proud of the guest book table because it held two of the gifts I gave my grandma for her birthday. First, I put together a small collage print of various photos of my grandmother from when she was a young woman. Then, I took some of those photos, as well as a handful of family photos, and designed a guest book for everyone to sign. I wanted to make sure my grandma had a memento of the party, so I asked everyone to sign the book with a message or a memory. Here is the collage followed by some of the pages from the book:
I cannot begin to describe what a wonderful woman my grandmother is, nor how important she is to me. I am so blessed to have so many cherished memories of time spent at my grandmother’s side, watching her cook, listening to her tell stories and learning from her incredible example of strength and love, of laughter and joy. She has never been one to take life too seriously – she enjoys each day to its fullest, and she says that her secret to living such a long life is keeping busy!
Happy 90th Birthday, Grandma!
As always, thanks for reading! Love, Kristi :)
PS. I come by my sewing skills naturally; my grandmother used to sew many of her own clothes, including this suit! ;)
