Inspired by India | Thrift Style Thursday

August 7, 2014

Hello, friends!  Another Thursday, another fabulous Thrift Style Thursday, this time we’re Inspired by India!

When I think of India and it’s fashion and clothing, I think of vibrant colors, lots of pattern and loose, airy fabrics.  As soon as I saw the theme for this week’s Thrift Style Thursday, I knew my favorite silk pants were going to make an appearance; I mean, they are harem pants, after all.  (I’ve also styled these pants in a video – here!)

Look, I can even do yoga in these pants!  These slouchy pants are my first foray into the harem pant trend, and I love them.  They are comfortable, easy to wear and feel like stylish pajamas that are acceptable in public – what’s not to love?  For my top, I decided to throw in some more color and pattern with my thrifted tribal tank top.  I will admit I was totally unsure of this combination, but it works, right?

The details: tank top (American Eagle, thrifted) // slouchy pants (American Eagle) // green leather sandals (thrifted) // turquoise stud earrings (gift) // wood bead necklace (hand-me-down) // elephant pendant necklace (H&M) // gold & bead necklace, worn as bracelet (hand-me-down) // wood bead bracelets (old)

What do you think – are you inspired by India??  Make sure you check out these thrifty babes to see how they were inspired, and go vote for next month’s themes on Sheri’s “Gone Thrifting” page (here)!

I’m still suffering pants-envy from your fab video – you wear those so freaking well and are once again the queen of accessorizing! ;)

Thank you! I was worried that mixing “Indian” inspiration between the harem pants and Aztec top wouldn’t work, but I think I’m just over-thinking haha! ;)

Cute outfit. I wish I could pull off harem pants; pyjamas I could wear to work! Sign me up! Sadly they look so dreadful on me that it just makes me depressed.

Thanks, Alexa!! Maybe try a silk (or similar comfy material) palazzo or wide leg pant?? Equally comfortable and more flattering! ;)

I love everything about this outfit! The pants and top are awesome and look wonderful on you – I love your accessories too, the beaded necklace is perfect! And I’m coveting the elephant pendant, elephants are my son’s favorite!

Thank you, thank you! The elephant necklace was such a random purchase from H&M years ago, but I’ve gotten so much wear out of it!! :)

Very cool styling! I like how the top and pants together are kind-of unexpected, but totally work together!

Thumbs up for those beads bracelets. If you would have added the orange color then it would be the tri color from indian flag. Orange white and green. Though I am considering your tank top base is white! Very comfy outfit!
