Hello, friends! The Long Beach Comic Con was this past weekend and I attended with my boyfriend, Derek, and some friends of ours. It was a ton of fun seeing all of the cool merchandise, art, vendors, artists, cosplayers, costumes and just being in such a fun, nerdy environment! I also wore my very own handmade Harry Potter Gryffindor robe and costume to the convention, which was just beyond exciting and fun (and comfortable, too)! Check it out:
There were so many amazing costumes to see of so many super cool characters, including some of my personal favorites. I did my best to get as many pictures as I could, but there was just so much to see. I was also pretty stoked whenever someone wanted a picture of/with me in my costume (which I’ll admit was, like, three times haha, but still)! Anyway, on to the photos:
I really enjoyed seeing all of the amazing handiwork of the cosplayers at the event, and I had fun dressing up, too. Sewing my robe was so much fun, the nerd in me totally loved doing all of the research, hunting down the right patch and buttons, and getting all of those little details just right. For the rest of my costume, I used items I already had on hand, except for the pleated skirt, which I found at Goodwill for only $4, and the time turner necklace, which I bought off eBay for only $5.50.
Overall, the event was very cool if a little small. The Long Beach Comic Con is one of the smaller conventions in the area, so I can’t wait for the next con which is coming up next month! I am thinking about making another costume, but if I cosplay again, I think I would want to do something really spectacular, so I’ll have to hit the drawing board. Any suggestions??
As always, thanks for reading! Love & geekery, Kristi :)
