#NOTD: Tranzitions

October 8, 2014

Hello, friends!  Did you know today is already the second Wednesday of October?  For me that means one thing and one thing only: next Wednesday is #MonthlyMani posting day!  Woo hoo!  The chosen theme for October is #ThinkPink!  As I am sure many of your are aware, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, signified by the color pink, so we’ve decided to add our voices (and nails) to the movement!  Join us next Wednesday by painting your nails in a fun design featuring the color pink and share it on your blog & social media!

In case you’ve never heard of #MonthlyMani before, it’s a monthly link up I host along with a couple blogger friends of mine (shout out to Justine & Piniel!) – we share fun nail art posts on the 3rd Wednesday of every month along with any other cool bloggers that decide to join us, all centered around that month’s theme.  If you want to join in, just let me know in the comments or shoot me an email and I’ll be sure to add your link to the party!

For today’s nail art post, I decided to play around with some fun color-changing nail polish by China Glaze called “Tranzitions.”

The way this particular polish works is that it is one color when you paint it on by itself, but the color changes with the addition of top coat.  Since the polish by itself dries with a matte finish, I decided to try using my matte top coat to create a fun ombre design.  Unfortunately, I’m not sure this is the right top coat, since, as you can see, the difference between the polish with and without top coat is not very noticeable.

I tried to create interesting, uneven lines with the two shades, but I’m not sure how well it worked out.  And here I was thinking I was going to be super cool talking about transitioning seasons and representing that with my manicure, but I guess it just goes to show that sometimes simple is better haha!  Oh well, it still looks kinda cool…. right?

Here are the polishes:

It shows on the label of the China Glaze polish that it’s supposed to be a light green/gray color without top coat and then darken to a deeper green/navy with top coat.  I think perhaps if I had used a normal top coat, or probably even a China Glaze top coat, it would have worked better.  I really like the effect, and the nail polish was great – it painted on like a dream and dried pretty quickly – so I think I’ll have to try it again!

Have you ever tried a polish like this?  What were your results??

As always, thanks for reading!  Love & “tranzitions,” Kristi  ;)

How have I never heard of this amazing nail polish?!?! I really like the way this turned out. I also didn’t know NYC had a matte top coat. I’ve clearly got to catch up on what I’ve been missing in the world of nail polish. The ring looks lovely with the mani too!

Ummm I don’t know….? Haha jk, I only know about it because my lovely friend gave it to me!! ;)
Also, thank you, and I really like the NYC matte polish, but there are probably (definitely) better matte top coats out there. Ooh and thank you, I thought the ring coordinated nicely! ;)
