I Heart Layers | Thrift Style Thursday

October 9, 2014

Hello, friends!  It’s my favorite day of the week – Thrift Style Thursday – yippee!  Today’s theme is layering and if you ask anyone who knows me, they will tell you I’m pretty boss at layering.  Okay, they’re much more likely to say something like, “Yeah, Kristi wears a lot of layers,” or, “Sure, Kristi is pretty good at layering,” but you catch my drift.  Lately, however, it has been so hot that I was worried I forgot how to layer!  No fear, I still got it!  ;)

Since temperatures have yet to really cool down here in Southern California, I decided to layer one of my favorite little mini dresses (which I normally would wear with leggings) with a pair of denim shorts.  I threw on a 3/4 sleeve stripe sweater (just in case a chill decided to stop by) and added some casual accessories and I had myself a fun, season-shifting look!

(Pssst.  I have a secret to tell you!  I’m sure I look all cool as a cucumber, but it was HOT that morning and I was dying every time I had the sweater on haha!  But I’m glad I kept it as part of my outfit, because it did get chilly in the A/C.  ;))

The details: stripe sweater (hand-me-down) // polka dot dress (H&M) // white denim shorts (thrifted & refashioned) // slip-on shoes (Walmart) // sunglasses (Forever 21) // bracelet & ring (handmade)

I just love this polka dot dress!  The loose swing fit is so comfy and the row of buttons down the back could not be more adorable.  Unfortunately for me, it’s way too short for my 5’6″ frame, but luckily for me, I love layering!

Are you a fan of layering?  What is your favorite way to layer??

Don’t forget to check out my fellow Thrift Style Thursday-er’s to see their layered looks:

As always, thanks for reading!  Love & layers, Kristi :)

Oh yeah duh, I made another video this week, check it out!!!

I dig the nails and the matching jewelry! There’s not enough green incorporated in my fall wardrobe.

Thanks! It was kind of a happy accident because I wanted to wear my new handmade ring and decided to just throw in the green bracelet so it would match (because it clearly matches nothing else in my outfit), and it just kinda worked out. Yay for being accidentally stylish! ;)

Stripes and polka dots always pair together so nicely. I love the buttons up the back of that dress. If only I could still go out with bare legs in Pennsylvania.

It’s so sweet to see the different interpretations of layers in the fall. Even though it was hot you still executed the layering beautifully! I’ll give my cliche comment and say I’m obsessed with the polka dots, but I love them mixed with the stripes! I’ll have to try that sometime!
