A Pinterest-Inspired Thrift Style Thursday

October 23, 2014

Hello, ladies and gents!  It’s that time again – Thrift Style Thursday, woo hoo!  I am very excited because today’s theme is “Inspired by Pinterest,” and I LOVE Pinterest!  In fact, the hardest part about this post was choosing a look to copy because there are so many beautiful, amazing, fun, stylish and just all-around-inspiring outfits on Pinterest that it was nearly impossible to pick just one.  I did finally decide to share one of my more recent thrift shop finds, and style it around a fall themed outfit pin.  Check it out:

So, obviously, I went for a more loose interpretation than an item by item copy of this look, but I think that’s what personal style AND fashion on a budget is all about – taking a look/trend/style and making it your own, using what you have and what you can find at the thrift store!  ;)

I love the look of the loose tank and skirt with warmer fall weather layers, but since it was really only overcast here and not very chilly, I went with a lighter knit sweater and skipped the tights altogether (those tights are beautiful, but I would have been sweating for real!).  Also, although it totally looks like I’m wearing a separate top over a skirt or dress, it is actually all one piece!  The top and dress are sewn together to create one super cute, coordinated dress!  I love it – the styling is already done for me!  ;)

The details: layered dress (Salvation Army) // loose cardigan sweater (Goodwill) // riding boots (Zara) // owl necklace (Etsy) // vintage ring (Etsy) // vintage bangle bracelet (gift) // blush pink stud earrings (H&M)

I am totally in love with this dress – I wore it all day to work and running around and it was so comfortable and easy to wear!  The light layers kept me cool and I had my cardigan for when the breeze picked up; plus, these flat boots are a favorite of mine and they were such a steal from Zara during one of their  Christmas clearances (I got them years ago, but I think they were over $100 and I got them for around $40!).

I cannot wait to click over and see what my fellow Thrift Style Thursday gals have styled for their Pinterest-Inspired looks!  Make sure you check ’em out:

Okay that was so cute!! You did a great job recreating a look, and it was so you. Unfortunately, I don’t use pin interest, but I can imagine with all the images out there that it was hard to pick from. Maybe next month I will return to TST. Miss you all!

Wow! Great outfit. I’m usually afraid of wearing two loose(ish) items – but it works so well on you! Just the perfect amount of flow. Great interpretation :)

Thanks, Martyna! I normally wouldn’t pair two loose pieces together either, but I gave the dress a try at the store and loved it – totally surprised me haha! ;)
