Black Tie | #MonthlyMani November

November 19, 2014

Hello, friends!  It is the 3rd Wednesday of the month, which can only mean one thing: it’s #MonthlyMani time!  Our theme this month is “Black Tie” and I am excited to see what all of my fellow #MonthlyMani gals have come up with!  I, for one, decided to go for a fairly minimal, classic design with a fun twist – lilac!

This lilac color is probably my newest favorite shade that adds a fun, unique touch to my daily routine, and the black bow detail was a natural choice given the Black Tie theme.  I also wanted a hint of sparkle so I added teeny silver glitter to my middle finger.  I had a hard time with photos this week, though.  Is it just me or is it really hard taking pictures of your own hands without making them look totally weird??

As you can see, I used the polish “I Lilac You” by Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure for the main color in my manicure.  I used “Chinatown” by N.Y.C. for the bow detail and a simple silver glitter from Forever 21 that I received as part of a gift set.  The bow was surprisingly easy to paint, I just started with a dot in the center of my nail and added a small triangle on either side, all with my ball point dotting tool.

Don’t forget to check out my fellow #MonthlyMani ladies to see their fabulous and festive “Black Tie” manicures!

Thank you!! I think it’s just one of those weird personal things where everyone thinks they’re hands look weird but everyone else thinks they just look like hands haha! ;)

I totally know what you mean. I had a little pep talk with myself last night: “Marlena, your knuckles are not weird. Stop being self conscious about something so random!” haha But I love the bow look, and I am totally trying it out!

Hahaha omg I go through the same routine every time I post pictures of my nails! Except mine is more along the lines of “Kristi, you do not have giant man hands, stop being paranoid!” Hahaha so glad it’s not just me! ;)
Give the bow a try! The triangles took a little practice, but once I got that down it’s so easy! :)

Your nails are so pretty! I love that you did that little bow tie – adorable! I agree that it is so hard to take good nail pics! I struggle with this every time, haha. I had an idea to try for better pics, but didn’t get the chance to do it this time. Hopefully next month! :)

Love how your nails turned out! The lavender was a smart choice; it works perfectly, especially with the bow! The sparkles are a sweet touch too!!

I hate taking pictures of my hands – I feel like my fingers always look super chubby, lol! Yours look great – I love the bow! !

I really Lilac :) One day I might join the fun, but my nails and hands are usually in a disastrous state because of what I do for a job. This design is totally cute – Love the bow!

      Hee hee thank you! :)
You are welcome to join any time, the more the merrier!! And I promise no one will mind the state of your hands because apparently everyone dislikes the way their hands look in photos – just read the comments haha! ;)

Thanks, Miche!! I love this lilac color, and the fact that it’s so pale worked perfectly for this theme for me since I rarely ever go completely without color! :)
Can’t wait to have you back!! ;)
