Hello, friends! Sorry for the total lack of posting lately, it has been pretty crazy over here! Basically, I took on a 5th job recently (another freelance editing gig), and, as you can imagine, my schedule has been all over the place. Plus, I’m working on a very exciting new super-duper top secret project (are you on the edge of your seat yet??)!
Anyway, amid all of the hustle and bustle and holiday festivities, I also discovered a fun new app that you can use to create your own font!
That’s right, you can use your smartphone or tablet to create your own custom fonts, and the best part is, it’s super easy! I love playing around on my tablet, especially because it has a nifty stylus, but you can use the InstaFontMaker app on you phone using your finger, too! (Currently there is only an android app, but there are similar apps in the Apple market, as well.)
When you open the app, it has the letter forms in the background with bottom, top and center lines so all the letters stay in line. You simply draw one letter (or symbol) at a time and then tap the next button on the bottom left corner of the screen to move on the next letter. It takes you through the whole alphabet, lower case and capital letters, and numbers and common symbols. Bonus tip: the app includes the ability to make fonts in 22 different languages!
Here’s the font I created below:
When you are finished creating your font, you can email the True Type Font file to yourself, download it on your computer and start using it! The app is completely free, but they also have a paid version which, of course, has more features like creating and saving multiple fonts, etc. You can also add your new font to photos on your phone or create “handwritten” messages to send to friends!
Okay, I realize it probably sounds like I’m getting some sort of compensation to promote this app, but I promise you, I am not. I just discovered it, made a font in less than 30 minutes (!), and pretty much fell in love! But just in case you aren’t a tech nerd, too, here’s a fun, new holiday song I think everyone these days can enjoy!
Isn’t Kristen Bell just the most adorablest ever?? Hope your holidays are starting off with lots of cheer!
Thanks for reading! Love & love-texts, Kristi :)
PS. As an added bonus, if you like the font I’ve created, you can download it FOR FREE! Just click the “pop out” button on the image below (top right corner when you mouse over the picture), and then click the “download” link in the header options on the Google Drive page that it takes you to! Enjoy and be sure to share if you use it!! :)
