San Diego Anniversary Weekend

December 15, 2014

Last week, Derek and I celebrated our 10th anniversary in San Diego, and it was a blast!  We left on Wednesday morning and slowly made our way down the coast, stopping to shop and grab lunch at the outlets in Carlsbad.  After checking into our hotel, we spent the rest of our four-day trip gallivanting around the entire city, from neighborhood to neighborhood, eating, shopping and sight-seeing till we dropped.

It was, to be honest, an exhausting four days, but we saw so much of the city and ate SO MUCH delicious food, all I can say is “no regrets!”  From La Jolla and Mission Beach to the Gaslamp District and Balboa Park, I think we crossed everything off our list of Things To Do, but the best was, hands down, the food.  Derek and I are amateur foodies (which basically means we LOVE to eat), so we hit up every hot spot in town that we had time – and room in our stomachs – for, from hip eateries to total hole in the wall dives.  And it was all delicious!  (…which is why I only managed a few shots of our food, mostly my half-eaten plates and Derek’s completely empty plates haha!)

Another highlight of our trip was the San Diego Zoo.  We are both huge animal lovers, and we’ve had passes before, so it was a no-brainer for us to get another pass and spend another day at the zoo.  Lucky for us, we arrived just in time for the soft opening of their “Jungle Bells” holiday lights celebration.  There were shows, music, festivities and, of course, lights.  It was seriously a treat, and it really made it feel like the holidays!

Elephants!!! (Need I say more?)

It really was a fantastic anniversary trip.  Derek and I are both so busy with very unpredictable schedules, so it was a total luxury to be able to spend four days together doing whatever we wanted with zero distractions.  I even convinced Derek to take some cheesy couple photos in the gazebo at our hotel!

Even though we like to joke around (like in the picture above), I will be the first to admit that I have the best boyfriend on the planet.  He is so incredibly supportive and considerate, and he really is a good guy with a great heart.  I am grateful everyday that he is in my life, and I cannot believe how quickly the past 10 years have flown by.  I love you, Derek!  :)

After catching up from our vacation, I am excited for all of the fun and festivities of the next few weeks!  I cannot believe that Christmas is less than two weeks away, and then it’s New Years, and that means that in a few short weeks, it will be 2015!  Where does the time go??  Luckily, I was able to get a bit of Christmas shopping done in San Diego.  How’s your holiday to-do list coming along?

As always, thanks for reading!
