Summer is almost here, and that means I’m checking my list of summer essentials! I’ve loaded up on sunscreens, and thanks to the thrift stores, I’ve got plenty of summer sandals. The one thing I haven’t been able to find is a sun hat, until I was offered a free Cappelli Straworld Pack-A-Hat to try in exchange for a review!
First, some info: the “Pack-A-Hat” is a really neat concept that you may or may not have seen before, but it is exactly what it sounds like – a hat that packs into a small, stylish wristlet. This Capelli Straworld hat is extra functional for sunny weather because it has built in UPF 50+ sun protection due to its material and construction. I chose a classic tan color with metallic gold thread woven throughout, and added my own floral scarf for a fun accent!
Now for the breakdown.
What I Like: The sun protection is definitely top notch and, combined with its wide brim, that is a big plus for me. I spend a lot of time in the sun and, with my short hair, my neck and shoulders get burned no matter how much sunblock I apply (and reapply). The style is classic and neutral, which means I can wear it with anything. Oh, and I absolutely LOVE the ability to pack it into the handy clutch, which I was also able to load up with some bare essentials – cash/cards, keys & chapstick, and phone!
What I Didn’t Like: There were two small drawbacks that I saw in the hat. First, the fact that the hat is folded means that there are slight fold lines when the hat is open. I purposefully left my hat opened for several days to see if the folds went away, but the deeper folds/lines were still somewhat noticeable. The other issue I had was that the material is soft so that makes the large brim extra floppy. Neither of these things is really a big deal, however, but I did find myself continually adjusting it.
Summary: The Cappelli Straworld Pack-A-Hat is a keeper! With several color options to choose from, the cute and practical wristlet for carrying, neutral style and fashionable functionality, I will definitely wear this hat (and take it out with me) all summer long. The slight drawbacks are not enough to detract from the fact that I just love the practicality of a cute hat that I can easily pack up and take on all my adventures. Plus, the quality materials and construction make it worth the cost at only $25 (plus free shipping)!
What adventures do you have planned for this summer? Have you found a sun hat yet?? ;)
