On The Road Again | British Isles Cruise

July 7, 2015

That’s right, I’m hitting the road again and this time I’m heading overseas!  If you follow me on social media, then you’ve probably noticed that I’ve dropped a few travel hints.  I’m going on a two week trip to England, Ireland and Scotland – and one day in Paris! – on a British Isles cruise with my mom, and I leave TODAY!

I am also excited to say that all of my planning, organizing and research (aka pinning like mad on Pinterest) has totally paid off because I am leaving for TWO weeks in Europe with only TWO carry-on bags!

I spent more time than I care to admit planning exactly what I was going to pack and wear for touring around the U.K., but I really wanted to shop and pack smart, and I think I did.  I’m going to wait until I get back from my trip, however, to share everything I packed only because I want to see how everything works before I give any advice!  ;)

That being said, here are two of my favorite packing lists that I found during my “research” on Pinterest:

Travel Packing List via Oh Happy DayMinimalist Packing List via Pinterest

The first pin, from Oh Happy Day, provided most of the inspiration for my packing list.  I absolutely loved all of the dresses she chose and actually chose to pack a majority of dresses because they do double duty, from day to night!  The second pin had more casual outfit options, but again, I liked the versatility of the pieces and the minimal list, which really helped inspire me to cut down my own packing list.

IKEA Packing Cubes - Set of 4 for $7.99 | Travel with Delightfully Kristi

The other piece of advice I encountered again and again was PACKING CUBES!  I got this set of 4 packing cubes from IKEA for only $7.99 (with an IKEA Family membership, otherwise they’re $9.99).  They are a really great deal, and they are a total lifesaver when it comes to packing, I promise!  (You can find them here.)

I actually used some IKEA packing cubes for my most recent trip to Nashville, and that’s when I became convinced.  I just love the organization factor, and the cubes totally helped me fit all of my clothes into my suitcase and tote bag.

Union Jack - England, Ireland, Scotland | Travel with Delightfully Kristi

Now that my bags are packed and I’ve said my good-byes, it’s time for me to hit the road!  Delightfully Kristi won’t be totally silent while I’m gone.  I’ve got several posts scheduled including a couple fabulous Thrift Style Thursday outfits and this month’s #MonthlyMani.  So stay tuned, and to follow me on my travel adventures, be sure to keep an eye on my Facebook page, Twitter or Instagram accounts!

As always, thanks for reading!

What area in IKEA did you find the Packing Cubes? I’ve been searching online and can’t find them. Thanks in advance.

Hey, Debbie, thanks for the question! I got my packing cubes in the IKEA family section (it’s upstairs near the kids stuff at my local IKEA), but they do have them online in their IKEA Family Products section as well. I absolutely love mine and use them every time I travel; in fact, I just went back and bought another set before my last trip! Here’s a link to the page online :)

Hi Nicole, thanks for the questions! The windbreaker is by New Balance and I found it at Burlington Coat Factory, actually! I bought it several years ago and it’s been a favorite of mine ever since!! :)
