Geronimo! Halloween is this Saturday and I could not be more excited to rock my (almost) completely thrifted Doctor Who costume at Comikaze!
I have been so busy working and sewing up costumes for everyone else that I ran out of time to sew myself a custom costume; so, thrift stores to the rescue! Luckily, the Eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith, wears a pretty easy outfit to pull off…
Everything from the jacket to the bow tie was thrifted for this outfit, the only exceptions being my boots (which I already had) and the sonic screwdriver, which I just HAD to get! ;)
I even found the bow tie and suspenders at my local Goodwill thanks to their rather large Halloween section. The only other thing I had to add to the costume were the elbow patches on the tweed blazer. It was a quick and simple DIY, so I wrote a tutorial on Instructables in case you have any jackets crying out for a little elbow candy!
The Doctor: tweed blazer, button front collar shirt, dark pants or jeans, red bow tie, red suspenders (all thrifted), black boots & sonic screwdriver
I got so excited about my costume, I even painted my nails in a Doctor Who inspired manicure with a Tardis! Okay, I may have crossed into complete nerd territory, but I don’t care, Doctor Who is a great show, and this is probably my favorite costume ever! :) (PS. Stay tuned for more of the Doctor Who mani on the blog tomorrow!)
In the meantime, stay up to date on all the Thrift Style Thursday happenings by following our Facebook Page!
