It’s been a while, I know, I’m sorry. I have a new job (nothing too exciting), and a couple new commissioned sewing projects (way more fun!), AND I’ve been very busy working on my portfolio. You may – or may not – have noticed the new page on my blog (link in the menu bar). There’s currently a (very) rough portfolio up with photos of my recent handmade creations, but (hopefully) soon, I will have a much spiffier page for you to browse!
As you can imagine, among all of these various things I’ve been working on, I’ve been trying to squeeze in some blogging when I get the chance. Thanks for sticking around, you’re the best! No, really, I mean it!! :) Now, on to something fun, like my first rainy day outfit of the season – yay!
It’s been forever since I’ve done a regular old outfit-of-the-day type post between projects, DIY’s and Thrift Style Thursdays, so it was fun to “dress up” for once. I’ve actually, believe it or not, been wearing some pretty cute outfits lately, I just haven’t had time to photograph them. So, I decided the front door was a great place to snap some quick photos of my cuter daily outfits.
I wore this outfit yesterday when we had s nice little rainy spell (it lasted for most of the morning, that’s a lot for Southern California these days). The booties I bought just before my trip to the UK this summer, the jeans are a recent find and the sweater is several seasons old by now, but a definite fall/winter staple.
The details: olive chunky sweater, long slub tank top & skinny boyfriend jeans (Old Navy) // black Chelsea rain booties (Michael Kors via Marshall’s) // chevron mixed metal necklace (Ann Taylor Loft) // black stud earrings (H&M)
I love this outfit for a lot of reasons – it’s comfortable, but still stylish, it’s a mix of old and new favorites, and it’s practical, but still fun. The jeans were a surprising find for me since I always wanted boyfriend jeans, but could never find a pair that fit my definitely-not-boyfriend hips. I am still working on styling them, but I really can’t wait until spring to add girly pieces to contrast the more relaxed fit. In the meantime, I’m crossing my fingers for more rain because we need it, and I really want to wear these booties more! ;)
Do you have any wardrobe pieces that you don’t seem to wear as much as you’d like for one reason or another?? Hope you’re having a great week, thanks for reading!
