The holidays are always full of fun, festive gatherings and plenty of reasons to celebrate. But my favorite special occasion this time of year is actually my anniversary with my boyfriend, Derek. This year marks our 11th anniversary together, and while we kept the celebrations low-key, I still took the opportunity to treat myself with a new dress. I had to have something to wear to dinner after all… ;)
I actually got this dress when I was ordering my nephew’s birthday gifts from OldNavy.com during their Cyber Monday sale (I needed to spend just a little more to get free shipping haha!). I can already tell, however, that it will quickly become a wardrobe favorite and I absolutely have plans to wear it as a holiday dress to at least one Christmas party!
For our anniversary, Derek brought me a bouquet of red roses and we went out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. While we both would have loved to take another trip like we did for our tenth anniversary last year, it just wasn’t in the budget (or our schedules) this time around. But we had a great time at dinner and as part of a new tradition, I treated him to breakfast the next morning (which was delicious)!!
The details: gray long cardigan sweater (Ann Taylor Loft) // red dress (Old Navy) // black leggings (WalMart) // black booties (Michael Kors via Marshall’s) // snowflake earrings (handmade) // pendant necklace (gift)
I also have plans to make myself another fun holiday dress. I’ve already started on the pattern – it’s going to be a very similar shape to this dress as this shift/swing style is a favorite of mine. I can’t wait to cut the fabric and start sewing, and then to share it!
Do you have any festivities that you’re looking forward to this holiday season? And anything special you plan to wear??
Thanks for reading! :)
