Hello, friends! Justine, Nout and I have a fun new post planned for this week’s Workwear Wednesday – our very own 6 Workwear Rules to Follow! We decided to put together a little compilation of some basic pieces that can be used as building blocks to create the perfect professional wardrobe for any workplace!
We divided up the “rules,” each tackling two different items – one main piece and one accessory – and then put together an outfit and some helpful suggestions for our rules. I am showcasing “Elevated Casualwear” (cause we all know casual is what I do best!) and “Statement Jewelry.”
For my outfit, I decided to dress up one of my favorite graphic tee’s with a knit pencil skirt, sweater, heeled sandals and a fun statement necklace. The “casualwear” here is obviously my Mickey Mouse t-shirt, which I elevated quite literally with some heels and of course jazzy accessories and a nice skirt. The statement necklace works perfectly to dress up the t-shirt, but I kept the rest of my jewelry simple to make sure it was still appropriate for my workplace.
The details: Mickey Mouse shirt (gift) // black and white stripe pencil skirt (Old Navy) // berry cardigan sweater (American Eagle) // Swedish Hasbeen sandals (Nordstrom Rack) // statement necklace (borrowed) // bracelet (gift) // black stud earrings (H&M)
Now, some more about my two rules…
Elevated CasualwearThe key to wearing casual pieces to work is to keep it simple and dress them up with other items and accessories. For a t-shirt, pick a dressier bottom and jewelry, for shorts, pick a nice blouse or even a blazer, or even go for something fun like an animal sweater and dress it up with slacks and flats!
Statement jewelry is an easy way to add style to your professional wardrobe, and it can be a lot of fun, too! Not only is it great for dressing up more simple or casual items, but it can add personality and versatility to pieces that you may wear over and over again. Plus, jewelry can be a much less expensive way to mix those staple pieces up! I still recommend keeping it simple, however, and picking one statement piece of jewelry with other simpler accessories, especially depending on your work environment.
I hope you found my Workwear tips helpful! Honestly, “elevated casualwear” is my favorite way to describe my love of finding ways to wear comfy clothes and still look professional haha! And while I don’t break out the statement jewelry often, it is fun to feel a little extra stylish every now and then!
What are your favorite workwear rules to follow??
Thanks for reading! :)
