Today is a fun spin on Workwear Wednesday – it’s Work…HAIR Wednesday!  Get it?  Get it??  Ok, the pun isn’t all that exciting, but the theme is because I don’t know about you, but I used to always have trouble finding creative ways to style my hair, especially for a professional setting.  I mean, ponytails and plain ‘ole leaving it down get old fast, amiright??  SO, to solve all you short-haired girls’ problems, here’s my Work Hair for Short Hair!

Also, for you longer-haired mavens, be sure to check out Justine and Nout‘s blogs to see how they styled their luscious locks for today’s WorkHair Wednesday!

Given that this post is a little different, I felt a little weird without a full outfit to share and talk about.  I mean, it’s literally just pictures of me, my face, and…. my hair.  BUT, I hope it is inspirational for any women with short hair, or who are growing out a pixie haircut.  I cut my hair to a pixie way back in high school and haven’t looked back since. That being said, my hair grows fast and I don’t make time for haircuts often enough, so I am constantly trying to come up with ways to style my awkward length hair.

This hairstyle is really simple and very easy to achieve.  I simply used bobby pins to pin back the sides and then gather the top half of my hair in the back, which I pinned in place with layered bobby pins.  Actually, wearing my hair half up half down was my favorite hairstyle before I cut it ultra short.  It’s a great professional look because it pulls your hair off of your face for a clean look, but also allows some interest other than the classic ponytail or bun.

I love your hair so much! The pixie really suits you, but you’re right, you’re left with a lot less options for styling that longer-haired gals. Bobby pins are one of my favorite hair accessories and I can see why they’re one of yours too! I’m interested since your hair is so smooth and frizz-free- what kind of hair products do you use?

Thanks, Justine!! I actually don’t use a ton of product on my hair (I try to keep my routine as low maintenance as possible haha), but for styling I typically either use Herbal Essences spray gel (ironically for curls, called “Tousle Me Softly,” haha) or a light finishing paste (my favorite right now is “Pure Clean” by Garnier Fructis). Since cutting my hair short and keeping it short, it’s been a lot healthier, especially since I started using my absolute favorite Suave 2-in-1 shampoo / conditioner that’s designed to maintain your hair’s natural pH balance. I swear by that stuff!! :)

PS. Sorry for the long rant, but thanks for the question! ;)

You such SUCH great hair and I absolutely love the pixie cut. I am equally excited by bobby pins – there are so many cute things you can do with them and they’re so cheap so you don’t feel bad when you lose them or your cats steal them (this is a true story).

Hahaha yeah I’m constantly losing bobby pins, though never to my cat… They are the best, though!! And you’re totally right about wanting what you can’t have as far as hair is concerned. Oh and thank you so much!! :)
