Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends! I still can’t believe the holiday season is already here, but I am happy to celebrate with a manicure. Our theme this month is “Golden Harvest” in celebration of the fall season. Be sure to hop on over to The Fashion Huntress to see her gold-hued mani!
Since I am always looking for new techniques to try, I decided to use gold foil for the first time. For this gold leaf manicure, I started with a shimmery blush pink base on each nail. Then, I took a piece of gold foil and pressed it to the edge of each nail, creating the gold foil effect. As an accent, I added a solid gold nail with my favorite pale gold polish.
It wasn’t too hard to get the gold foil to adhere, just so long as the nail was still slightly tacky. The harder part was manipulating the delicate foil itself. Overall, I think it came out pretty nice, especially for being my first try. I would definitely try a gold foil manicure again, maybe even experimenting with different patterns or placement on the nails.
Julep polishes: pale gold polish – “Zelda” // shimmery blush pink – “Carrie Ann”
I admit that I am somewhat obsessed with the whole gold leaf process now and am tempted to gold leaf everything! I watched a British decorating show years ago and I remember they gold-leafed the outside of an entire claw foot tub by hand – it was one stunning DIY! If you could gold leaf anything, what would it be??
As always, thanks for reading and have a Happy Thanksgiving! :)
