April Showers | #MonthlyMani

April 18, 2017

Confession time!  You know the phrase, “April showers bring May flowers??”  I’ve always loved that phrase because I decided that having been born in May, that made me a May flower!  Cheesy, I know, but who doesn’t love cheese?  Anyway, when Melissa from The Fashion Huntress suggested “April Showers” and “May Flowers” for our April and May themes, I was ALL IN!

I also decided to take this month’s theme a bit literally and painted white clouds and cobalt blue rain drops on a pale lilac gray base.  Fun, right?  Here’s how I created my April Showers nail art:

I started with a base coat of one of my all-time favorite polishes: I Lilac You by Sally Hansen.  This pale purple-gray color is so pretty and works for almost any time of the year, and it just to happens to make a great spring gray sky.

Next, I used my dotting tool to make little fluffy white clouds on each nail.  Clouds are super simple to make by grouping four or five white dots together.  I’ve also made cloud nails in my “Blue Skies” themed mani/pedi combo – one of my favorite #MonthlyMani’s ever!

And last, but not least, I added pretty blue raindrops, also with my dotting tool.  The cobalt blue combined with the white clouds and pale purple are bright and springy but still fit the theme for our April Showers nail art.  It’s also becoming one of my favorite color combinations.

What are your favorite nail colors for spring?  Any April showers where you’re at or has it been sunny skies??

As always, thanks for reading!
