Happy Halloween, friends!
To celebrate the arrival of fall and all the pumpkin flavored things, our October theme is “Pumpkin Spice” – yum! While I don’t drink coffee, and therefore have never had a PSL, I do love all the pumpkin things, from pumpkin muffins to my favorite pumpkin smoothie from Jamba Juice. So, to ring in the autumn season, here are my pumpkin spice nails!
At first, I had no clue what I wanted to do for this month’s theme. Lately, I have been loving the soft, purple-y pink hues for fall, but I wasn’t sure how to make it fit with the “Pumpkin Spice ” theme. While I was rummaging in my nail polish drawer, inspiration struck when I saw my big eye shadow palette. I decided to add a dusting of bronze eye shadow to my mauve polish for that extra hint of pumpkin spice!
It worked even better than I hoped, adding a subtle shimmer to each nail in an almost iridescent ombre effect. It was hard to photograph, but it looks really cool and pretty when the light catches the almost metallic hue of the eye shadow on top of the pretty mauve.
To create my Pumpkin Spice nails, I painted a base coat of my chosen mauve polish – “Stacie” by Julep. Next, I dusted the orange/rust colored eye shadow onto a clean nail polish brush. Then, I gently pressed the powder onto each nail making sure they were still slightly tacky so the shadow would stick. I finished up with a glossy top coat for extra shine!
I really liked this technique and would love to try it again with more contrasting shades… a darker eye shadow on a lighter nail polish or vice versa. For now, I am digging these fall colors and so happy that we finally have some fall weather to go with it! Don’t forget to head over to The Fashion Huntress to see what Pumpkin Spice nails Melissa has cooked up!
So, do you have any fun plans for Halloween this year? I’ll be dressing up as Dorothy from The Wizard of O and trick-or-treating at work with my two-year-old’s! I can’t wait!!!
As always, thanks for reading, and Happy Halloween!
