Ugly Christmas Sweater Nail Art | December #MonthlyMani

December 19, 2017

‘Tis the season…

…for crowded shopping centers, crazy drivers, more sweet treats than is probably safe to consume and all the festive t-shirts, sweaters and accessories.  I love it!  I have been wearing Christmas themed shirts, sweaters, earrings, leggings and, thanks to pajama days at work later this week, I’ll even get to wear my Christmas pajamas to work!  It’s gonna be great!

Melissa from The Fashion Huntress and I are celebrating the season with – what else?! – am Ugly Christmas Sweater themed #MonthlyMani!  Make sure you check out the link to see what she comes up with!  For my own ugly Christmas sweater nail art, I chose to go with classic colors but a different design on each nail to add that ugly Christmas sweater flair!  Check ’em out:

For my extra festive nails, I started with a base coat of this really pretty red polish – “Ilga” by Julep – and then added the designs using my trusty white thin brush polish.  I also used a festive white iridescent glitter – “Snow Globe” by Sally Hansen – to add some necessary sparkle.  Here’s the polishes:

The ugly Christmas sweater nail art designs themselves are also pretty simple.  I went with polka dots on the pinky, glitter for the ring finger and thumb, candy cane stripes for the middle finger and a snowflake on the pointer finger.  The candy cane stripes are probably my favorite, although the polka dots definitely come in a close second.  I think if I were to do an even more simplified Christmas manicure, I would just do the candy cane stripes on the red, with maybe silver glitter for an accent nail.

This t-shirt is my newest holiday attire acquisition, and probably my favorite.  I love a good pun and who doesn’t love a gnome in their pocket?!  Also, I’ve been singing the song “There’s No Place Like Home for the Holidays” all day in my head, only replacing the work home with gnome, like on the shirt…. you’re welcome (for getting that stuck in your head, too).

Do you like to go all out for the holidays?  I definitely use the fact that I’m a preschool teacher as an excuse to wear all the holiday things haha!  What’s your favorite holiday tradition??  Please tell me it involves a delicious recipe you want to share!  ;)

Happy Holidays, and thanks for reading!  :)
