Hello, friends! It’s been awhile since I posted an Outfit-of-the-Day style post, but I shared this outfit on my Instagram and thought it might be fun to do an old fashioned blog post, too! Since moving to Utah, I’ve been finding all kinds of goodies in my new local thrift stores, both for myself and for our apartment. This means I’ve gotten pretty creative with my clothes, styling some fun – and in today’s case, funky – outfits! I was also inspired by the #12MonthsofThrifting Challenge from Dina’s Days to share more of my thrift finds and how I style them. For example, today’s outfit features a stripe dress I thrifted back in November and have already worn and remixed several times!
The dress is actually super comfy and super warm, made of the softest french terry type fabric. The boots (which are a little messy from playing in the snow with my students) are also thrifted and super comfy. Add some basic black leggings and warm boot socks, and there you have!
Details: stripe dress – thrifted // leggings – Old Navy // socks – Roots // ankle boots – thrifted // tote bag – Violet Fox
This stripe dress has become a winter staple for me because it’s so easy to pair with leggings and boots in various combinations. I’ve worn it with tall leather riding boots, thick leggings and chunky Ugg-like boots and, of course, in the outfit above. I’m also thinking it would be cute with athletic leggings and tennis shoes in the spring!
Oh, and before I forget, if you want to join in on the #12MonthsofThrifting Challenge, here are the prompts shared by @dinasdays:
Now on to the rest of the outfit!
The Tote Bag:
I wanted to highlight the tote bag I’m carrying with the outfit because it has become my new official work tote. I got it on a bit of an impulse back in November during Violet Fox‘s Black Friday sale. What better way to celebrate my new last name than with a monogram tote bag?! (Also, I promise to share wedding details & photos, soon! Maybe even my next blog post!!)
I love the beautiful neutral blue color of the vegan leather, which is surprisingly good quality. (I only say ‘surprisingly’ because I’ve come across a lot of plastic-y feeling faux leathers that leave something to be desired.) I’m also thinking I want to jazz the bag up with a cute pom-pom keychain or a brighter, bigger tassel. It just needs something a little ‘extra’ don’t ya think??
So that’s pretty much it! We’re settling into life in Utah and married life pretty well, and it’s feeling more and more like home. With spring just around the corner, I think it’s safe to say I survived my first real winter. AND, I have actually been loving the challenge of coming up with fun, new outfits.
With the new thrift stores and fun new thrift finds, I’m hoping to post more new outfits on here! I also still plan on sharing my Japan and South Korea trip from summer 2018 as well as The Wedding! What’s your take on the monogrammed tote bag?? I always thought they were kinda cheesy, but maybe I’m growing up because I’m not totally in love with mine!
As always, thanks for reading!
